Fipronil – Stable isotope labelled

Published on

Fipronil is a broad-spectrum insecticide that belongs to the phenylpyrazole  chemical family. Fipronil disrupts the insect central nervous system by blocking GABA-gated chloride channels and glutamate-gated chlorine (GluCl) channels. This causes hyperexcitation of contaminated insects’ nerves and muscles. Fipronil’s specificity towards insects is believed to be due to its greater affinity to the GABA-receptor in insects relative to mammals and its effect on GluCl channels, which do not exist in mammals.

Due to the recent contamination of eggs with this compound, there is a greater need for testing all products which can come in contact with this molecule. For a good determination of the content of this molecule you also need internal standard. Syncom is offering 13C and 15N labelled Fipronil which can be used as an standard in the analysis of Fipronil exposed products.

Fipronil – 13C4 15N2 is now available in our catalogue. For price information please sent an e-mail to info@syncom.nl
